time for a little sewing hygge
I have a new machine… she is a New Home Janome Arctic Crystal however I have named her Agnes… after my Nana.
While I do love a machine with all the bells and whistles like my Janome Memory Craft 6700P when I met Agnes, I was smitten.
Agnes is small, simple, sturdy and colourful. Â She would be a perfect sewing companion at a cottage, on a retreat or simply at your kitchen table. Â I found sitting down to this machine immediately brought back memories of my first time sewing.
Next question was what project (of which I have a few) should I try out with her?
I decided to start on a postage stamp quilt that I had promised my daughter… the squares are 2” unfinished and the pattern will be totally random, just pick a piece up and sew.
This is simple sewing, Agnes makes lovely stitches and I added a piece of washi tape to give me a ¼” guide, in a coordinating colour of course!
With the winter coming on, I am looking forward to sewing with Agnes. Â She is cute and cozy and easy to use, the very essence of hygge:
“In essence, hygge means creating a warm atmosphere and enjoying the good things in life with good people. The warm glow of candlelight is hygge. Cosying up with a loved one for a movie – that’s hygge, too. And there’s nothing more hygge than sitting around with friends and family, discussing the big and small things in life.”
